GEOCLOCK shows the current time (based on your computer's clock) with
a high quality map of the earth. The current sun position is displayed,
and the parts of the earth in sunlight and twilight are highlighted. This
display is automatically updated every few seconds. Local sunrise, sunset,
the sun's azimuth and elevation, and times around the world are also
displayed. A variety of map backgrounds and other options are available. A
graphics adapter and a hard disk are required.
GEOCLK43.ZIP contains all the files required to run the EGA-VGA-SVGA
version of the program. Enter GEOCLK HELP to start the program and access
the on-line documentation and help system.
GEOCLOCK is distributed as shareware. This means that if you use and
enjoy the program, you are expected to register it. The registered version
includes the zoom, distance measuring, and city time display functions, and
at least 25 maps.
Version 4.3 of GEOCLOCK includes the following features that were not
in version 4.2:
1) New help and online documentation system, with printing.
2) Date problem solved, even before Gregorian-Julian switch. Look at the
equinoxes for 1582 and 1583. 1582/10/15 was preceeded by 1582/10/4.
3) Support for 387 if you have one. This makes about a 5% speed improvement
on rectangular maps, and 15% on EqAz maps.
4) Lat/Long lines on EqAz maps.
5) VGA is the default, rather than EGA
6) Improved emphemeris. About a factor of 4 for 1991, but of more
importance, maintains its accuracy over about +/- 800 years.
7) Variety of speed improvements (even though (2) and (6) slow it down),
especially on polar and EqAz maps.
8) Only one command input per "P" in graphics mode - eliminates the extra
<CR>.
9) Multiple commands allowed in responce to "P". For example:
NOCITY;NOMARK;SHOWLL;TWILIGHT -12;INCLUDE MAPRTE.LIS
The commands must be separated by semicolons. "P" can now interrupt any
phase of map construction or display, so pressing "P" a second time
should give immediate responce.
9) Shift of one pixel vertical solved.
10) DST command to control application of Daylight Saving Time to distant
years.
11) Use of F with a value other than zero freezes the real time clock. Thus
if you set F 1.00, the second and minute values will not change. Using T
after F is now properly handled. F can be expressed in hours:minutes or
hours:minutes:seconds (i.e., 0:15 for 15 minutes, 0:1:30 for 1 minute and
30 seconds) or decimal hours.
12) Mouse is initialized only once. This solves a delay problem when the
screen resolution is switched when running the Microsoft Mouse version 7
or later.
13) L command toggles to previous map
14) N does not display mark even if MARK active
15) - key in HAM mode erases the current call sign information
